Sometimes a poem is just fun to write! Today’s prompt was a six line poem with a ‘mic-drop’ line at the end.
Just do the thing, dammit.
You want to paint? Think you can’t paint?
Do it anyway. Who’s to say you shouldn’t?
Those colours are your own. Use them.
Pick up a brush and show us what you’ve got.
Give us unfiltered, unfettered astonishing you.
Just do the thing, dammit.
Got a poem living in your head? Rattling away
at the bars? Let it out! Give it freedom!
Never mind all of the spouting, pouting,
self-doubting gatekeepery – show us your words.
Give us unyielding, uncompromising, amazing you.
Just do the thing, dammit.
Your body wants to dance? Toes tapping and
bum wiggling? Afraid they’re going to laugh?
Maybe they are. Do it anyway. Let’s see your
hip-swinging, bell-ringing, heart-singing moves.
Give us unvarnished, unrestrained beautiful you.
Just do the thing, dammit.
Just do your thing. Find out what makes
your heart loop-the-loop and do more of that.
Pottery frogs? Can’t get enough of ‘em. Give us
the laughter-making, frown-breaking, world-shaking joy.
Give us unbridled, unhindered wonderful you.
